"A picture is worth a thousand words", how true. But how many words is an interactive 3D environment worth? Probably considerably more. 3D can be used as a powerful learning tool and Blink 3D can help make it happen.
Experiencing 3D Environments
Blink 3D can be used by designers to create educational 3D virtual learning environments. These virtual worlds can provide a safe place for students to explore and learn in a way that is not feasible in the real world. We have a number of clients who are using Blink 3D to create educational 3D environments. The surprising thing is that some of them are not even professional 3D designers, simply teachers or lecturers who want to create 3D environments to use as a teaching aid.- Math: for showing math in a visual way and easy to understand way. Basic math, fractions, geometry, trigonometry all things that can be easier to learn with some 3D examples.
- History: allows students to see and experience things and places that no longer exist or require travel to the other side of the world. What does it feel like to go into catacombs or to enter the tomb of an Egyptian Pharaoh? Or to be able to study historical of architecture.
- Art: the triptych created by Hans Memling is a wonderful piece of art. But a 2D image does not do it justice. The user can experience the joy of it opening like a butterfly and displaying in its full glory.
- Physics: students can explore different gravities, or see the effects of mass and velocities. They can also apply physical materials and see the effects. How does the box slide down the slope when different physical materials are used, glass, carpet, wood, steel? How does changing physical materials affect the way objects bounce?
- Language, spelling, vocabulary, grammar: all these can be taught using an interactive approach to question and answer exercises where the student is rewarded for correct responses.
- Music, 3D environments can be used to show everything from different musical notes and duration to the complex patterns that exist in classical music.
Creating 3D environments
Blink 3D can be used in the classroom for students studying game design, graphics or multimedia. Due to its ease of use, students get instant gratification. This encourages exploration and learning. Blink 3D can be used by students for creating virtual art galleries where they can place their art and share it online. Or, students can collaborate on creating a game or a multi media presentation.
Blink 3D's Behaviors allow users to quickly add in interactivity and animation. Or they can use the built-in code editor and use the BlinkScript programming language.
