Exporter gile[s]

When exporting from gile[s] you need to use the Ogre Exporter which will export export .mesh and .material files. To export a model select File->Export->Export and then choose Ogre from the drop down list.

Installation Instructions

Follow these steps to install the Ogre Exporter for gile[s]:

1. Stop gile[s] if it is already running.

2. Download the Ogre Exporter for gile[s] as a Zip file from here. This version of the exporter is compatible with gile[s] version 1.36

3. Un-zip the file into a temporary directory

4. Copy the following files to the C:\Program Files\gile[s] directory: OgreMain.dll zlib1.dll devil.dll ilu.dll msvcr71.dll msvcp71.dll

5. Copy the following file to the C:\Program Files\gile[s]\Plugins directory: ExportOgre.dll

6. Start gile[s], load a test model and export it.

NOTE: There are a few caveats when using this exporter. This exporter is not compatiable with gile[s] 2.0 beta but will work with version 1.36. Before exporting from gile[s], you need to make sure that the names of lightmaps do not include any spaces, also make sure that every material has a unique name, and that the paths to the textures for each material are correct. Then, after exporting, you need to edit the .material file to delete any rogue ASCII characters (they look like little squares) that might appear after the material and texture names. Once that is done, the .mesh and .material files can be imported into Blink, together with any required textures (including the lightmaps).
